T: Maybe you could just call today and tell him Happy Melated Father's Day.

(Waking up. Z puts her hands over my eyes, then removes them)

Z (big grin, sing-song voice): Boo-boo!

Hmmm. I love Italian.

Scene: Our living room. The girls are looking at a book N has brought home from the library.

Miss N: Hey Z, wanna learn about the cannoli-al days?

Me: What?

N: The cannoli-al days?

Me (looking at the cover): Can you try that again?

N: Oh. (exaggerated pronunciation): The colonial days.

Holiday Headstart

Ahem. If there happened to be someone out there who wanted to get a headstart on their holiday knitting, like say, a lovely pair of socks for their beloved daughter in law, I would highly encourage them to check out the summer issue of Knitty.

As for me, I'm highly tempted by the adorable Elenka. It's just too cute. And I love lime green, so it's doubly attractive.

Bitter Much?

Okay, universe, I see that you are telling me I have no business going to the Sock Summit. After all, I'm on a yarn diet. I've got plenty of knitting books. I could practically open a shop with my magazine collection.

Perhaps it's completely wrong of me to be so angry, but you know, I wanted one. measly. class.

So now I shall have to take the mature road and pretend it's just not happening at all.

On Food

Somehow, someway, I've managed to develop a crazy sensitivity to pine nuts. I ate a bunch last week, and now everything I eat tastes weird and metallic. Odd, but survivable, n'est pas?

Except that yesterday, I ate something else -- don't know what yet -- and immediately got itching tongue, lips and mouth, sneezing and runny nose. My antihistamine's got it under control for now, but I need to get to the doctor PDQ. 

I hate the idea that I'm developing a *new* allergy at this late date, but that's sure what it looks like. How annoying -- I lurve pine nuts, and they're treating me like a red-headed stepchild. Gah!

Cool & Crafty

I so stink -- I'm behind the 8-ball on my project and need to keep my nose to the grindstone, so nothing interesting's coming from this quarter for a while. However, for some seriously crafty goodness, check out Cut Out & Keep. I so want to make this shrug for the niece!
